Roofing in Deptford Township That Tells You When

Almost every street off Clements Bridge Road went up within the same twenty years, so the roofs are reaching the end together. The estimate says which year yours belongs in.

Who turns up

BBB and OSHA certified crews

Both are ordinary certifications rather than remarkable ones, and both are things you can check rather than things we can merely assert. Ask any roofer you ring for theirs.

The work

Seven jobs, each one dated as well as priced

Whatever the job, the estimate answers two questions instead of one: what it costs, and when it is actually worth doing.

  • A ladder resting against a roof being re-covered

    Roof Replacement

A full re-cover, costed and dated so you can pick the year rather than have it picked for you.

    See the page

  • A tiled roof with a dormer window set into it

    Roof Repair

A mend with an honest note beside it on how many years it should buy you.

    See the page

  • Water staining on a soffit during heavy rain

    Roof Leak Repair

Tracking the water back against its own path until the entry turns up.

  • Storm clouds building above a rooftop

    Storm & Hail Damage

Evidence gathered while it is still fresh, and a scope written for an assessor.

  • A white gable and roofline seen from below

    Roof Inspections

An hour on the roof and a condition note with timeframes written against it.

  • Weathered shingle siding around a window on a house wall

    Siding

Cladding, trim and the roof-to-wall junctions that quietly let water past.

  • Rain spilling from the edge of a roof into the gutter line

    Gutters & Downspouts

Fall, fixings and discharge sorted, so the edge stops feeding the wall.

The difference

What a date on the estimate changes

Four things that follow from pricing the timing as well as the work.

  • You get to budget

A roof you know about three years out is a savings plan. A roof you find out about in February is a loan.

  • Nobody can rush you

Urgency is the oldest lever in this trade. Putting the real window in writing takes it off the table for everyone, us included.

  • The small job stays on the table

If a mend buys four years and four years is all you need, that is the recommendation, and the figure for it sits beside the larger one.

  • You can compare like with like

Two quotes for the same roof usually differ because they assume different work. Ours sets out what is included line by line so the gap is visible.

How it goes

From your first call to a dated estimate

  1. 1

    You ring and describe it

Whatever you have noticed is a fine starting point: a mark on a ceiling, grit in the downspout, a tab in the flowerbed.

  2. 2

    We climb and look

An hour or so on the covering, plus the loft if there is a hatch, with a camera for anything that matters.

  3. 3

    The findings get written down

What state each part is in, photographed, in ordinary language rather than trade shorthand.

  4. 4

    A price and a window

What the work costs, and the stretch of time inside which doing it makes sense.

  5. 5

You decide, in your own time

Nothing is held open for forty-eight hours and nothing expires at midnight. Ring back whenever the answer is yes.

Find out which year your roof belongs in

The climb is free, the written estimate is free, and the date on it is the part most people say they wanted all along.

Asked often

What people ask before they book

How can you put a date on a roof?

By reading what the covering is already doing. Granule loss, brittleness, the state of the metalwork and the venting all move at fairly predictable rates, so a careful look gives a window of a few years rather than a precise day. We quote the window, not a date.

What if I want it done sooner than the window?

Then we will do it sooner. The window is information rather than a rule. Plenty of people replace a roof early because the scaffolding is already up for something else, or because they would rather not think about it again.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes, with no visit fee hidden in the number afterwards. The jobs that go ahead cover the visits that do not, which is a better arrangement than charging everybody for the looking.

Why does your figure differ from another roofer's?

Almost always because the two assume different work underneath. Ours lists the strip, the boards, the membrane, the metalwork and the venting separately, so you can put the two side by side and find the real difference.

What happens if the boards are rotten?

Work stops and you come and look at the boards yourself. The additional cost is settled there and then, in daylight, rather than turning up at the end on a bill.

Do you work through the winter?

Yes, though the diary moves more because usable days are fewer. Nothing gets opened that cannot be closed and made watertight the same day.

Who is on the roof?

Our own crew, the people who did the climb. Nothing is passed on to another outfit once the estimate is accepted.

How long does a replacement take?

Two days for most houses around here once the material has landed. A cut-up roof, a steep pitch or bad boards adds one.

Who you are ringing

A small crew with a long memory for streets

We work this township and the ones bordering it, which means the roofs we did five years ago are on the way to everywhere else. Putting a date on an estimate is partly honesty and partly self-interest: around here, pushing somebody into a roof they did not need yet is a story that travels.
